With so many people making the switch to natural gas in their homes, it should not come as a surprise that you also have to deal with certain maintenance. It is a gas that is coming into your home. Gasses are dangerous if you end up breathing it in. The problem is; not everyone can smell it. It can also damage your home and appliances. Both your home and your family’s health will give you clues about potential issues. Therefore, it is important that you know the warning signs that you may need gas leak repair.

The issues that your home will give you are not always easy to see or detect. Some companies add scent to their gas to ensure that you will be able to smell a leak. Some say that it can smell like rotten eggs and you should take notice of it if you start to smell something foul. Other people say that you may notice a musty smell in your home. Other indicators could be an orange flame or a pilot light that continuously blows itself out. In some cases, an appliance may have soot develop on the outside of it and you may also notice scorching around the appliances. You could also have excessive condensation on your windows because of an increased humidity inside of your home.

Health issues are also a little difficult to detect because they may resemble other ailments, but you should still take notice of them. For instance, if your family members have frequent headaches or someone in your home has frequent dizzy spells; they could be more sensitive to the smell of natural gas. Nausea is also possible since you are breathing in bad air. This is more of a problem during the winter months when your home is closed up. Children and elderly people inside of the home may have trouble breathing. If their breathing seems to become more labored, you should remove them from the home, seek medical attention, and have your gas lines checked. If you also notice that you feel very tired at home, but better once you get to the office, it may not be that you are simply bored when at home. Natural gas leaks cause less oxygen to be in the home. This deprives your body of fresh air and can make you very tired.
